Sciencepark Website Terms of Use

Chapter 1. General Provisions

Article 1. Purpose

The purpose of these Terms of Use is to specify and articulate the use and provision, etc., of the Internet related services (hereinafter the “service” or “services”) provided by the websites operated by LG Electronics Co., Ltd. (hereinafter the “Company”).

Article 2. Definition

The definitions of the terms used herein shall be as follows.

(1) "User" refers to any person who accesses a website operated by the Company and receives the services provided by the Company in accordance with these Terms of Use.
(2) “User identification verification service” refers to a service which can only be used after authentication.
(3) “User identification verification” refers to the act of verifying the user’s identity, and is carried out via a separate identification procedure through email, mobile phone, etc.
(4) “Personal information” refers to information that allows users to identify themselves for the purpose of using the services (including information that can be readily combined with other information for individual identification).

Article 3. Effectiveness and Revision of the Terms of Use

(1) These Terms of Use shall enter into force and become effective when posted via the initial service page of the website operated by the Company.
(2) The Company may modify these Terms of Use to the extent it does not violate relevant laws and regulations including the Act on the Regulation of Terms and Conditions, Framework Act on Electronic Commerce, Digital Signature Act, Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, Etc., Act on Door-to-Door Sales, Etc., Framework Act on Consumers, Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, Etc., and in which event, the effective date, reason for revision, and the details of modification shall be specified and notified on the initial service page from 7 days prior to the effective date until the day before the effective date. However, if the revisions are deemed to be unfavorable to the user, a notification shall be sent 30 days prior to the effective date.
(3) In accordance with Paragraph 2, the revised Terms of Use shall take effect in the same manner as under Paragraph 1.

Article 4. Rules Other Than Those Stipulated by the Terms of Use

(1) The Company may specify other Terms of Use in connection with the individual services provided by the Company, and should the Terms of Use of individual services be in conflict with these Terms and Use, the Terms of Use of the individual services shall take precedence over these Terms of Use.
(2) Any and all matters not specified hereunder shall be governed by relevant laws and regulations or commercial customs and practices.

Chapter 2. Use of Services and Restrictions

Article 5. Use of Services

(1) The Company shall provide services for the user under the condition that the user agrees to the contents of these Terms of Use, and if and where the user agrees to the contents of these Terms of Use, the Company's service provision and the user's use of services shall be governed by these Terms of Use with priority.
(2) By agreeing to these Terms of Use, the user agrees to regularly visit the website to verify the changes made to the Terms of Use. The Company will not and shall not be responsible for any damages caused against the user as a result of unfamiliarity with the details on the modified Terms of Use.
(3) If the user continues to use the services without expressing the user’s intention to refuse to accept the updated Terms of Use, the user shall be deemed to have agreed to the revisions made to the Terms of Use.
(4) The services shall in principle be available year-round unless there are business or technical issues.
(5) The Company may temporarily discontinue the provision of services in the event that the normal provision of services is not feasible due to inspection, repair, replacement, breakdown, interruption of communication, or violation of these Terms of Use of the information and communication systems.
(5) In case of service interruption according to Article 25, the Company shall post related contents to users through the service page. However, this is not the case if posting through the service page is not possible due to service interruption due to reasons beyond the Company's control.
(6) The services provided by the Company shall in principle be free of charge. However, exceptions shall be made for services for which the Company has specifically specified that fees will be charged.

Article 6. Restricted Use of Services

(1) The Company may not provide services in the following cases.
a. Where the user uses another person's name or registers false information when verifying the user’s identity
b. When a user intends to use the service for the purpose of pursuing profit
c. Where the user uses the service for the purpose of violating laws or undermining public order
d. Where the user seeks to use the service for illegal purposes
e. Where the user has violated any and all matters specified in these Terms of Use or it is not possible to allow the user to use the service due to reasons imputable to the user
(2) In the case of the user identification verification service, the user shall provide personal information to the Company in order to use the service.

Article 7. Collection and Use of Personal Information

(1) The user's consent shall be required without exception for the Company to collects and uses the user's personal information. The Company may operate a device which automatically collects Internet access related information files (cookie information) for the user to access the site smoothly, and the user may control the collection of the Company's Internet access information related files by changing the settings of the user’s computer to block any collection.
(2) The user may request to review and correct errors in the user’s personal information retained by the Company at any time, and the Company is obligated to take the measures needed without any delay thereto.
(3) Any other personal information related matters shall be governed by the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, Etc., Personal Information Protection Act, and the Privacy Policy posted on the Company's service page.

Article 8. Reversion of Copyrights and Restriction of Use

(1) The copyrights and other intellectual property rights for the works provided by the Company shall be reverted to the Company.
(2) The user shall not use the information secured by using the service provided by the Company for any for-profit purposes by duplicating, transmitting, publishing, distributing, broadcasting or other methods without securing prior consent from the Company or allowing a third party to use this information whatsoever.

Article 9. Suspension of the Use of Service

(1) The Company may suspend the use of the service by specifying a considerable period if the user commits any of the following acts.
a. Where an act against public order has been committed
b. Where criminal activity has been committed
c. Where planning or executing the use of services has been enacted for the purposes of impairing the national interest or social public interest
d. Where stealing personal information such as another person's identification information has been committed
e. Where damaging the reputation of others or causing harm to others has occurred
f. Where practical use is impeded including such the harming of the service in any way
g. Where there is a violation of other relevant laws and regulations or these Terms of Use
(2) Where the Company seeks to suspend the use of service, it shall determine the relevant reason, date and period and notify the user or representative in writing or by phone. However, if and where the Company recognizes that it is urgently necessary to suspend use, it may suspend the use of service without advance notice.

Article 10. Release of the Suspension of Use of Service

(1) The user or the user’s representative in receipt of the notice of the suspension of use of service pursuant to the provisions of the preceding Article may file an objection against the suspension of use of the service.
(2) The Company shall immediately lift the suspension of use only if and when it is confirmed that the reason for the suspension of use has been addressed.

Chapter 3. Obligations and Responsibilities

Article 11. Obligations of the Company

(1) The Company has the obligation to provide the services in a continuous and stable manner as specified hereunder.
(2) The Company shall handle the opinions raised by the user through the appropriate procedures, and if it should take a certain period of time, the Company shall notify the user of the relevant reason and a timetable for handling it.

Article 12. Obligations of the User

(1) The user shall be responsible for the management of information (i-PIN ID and password, accredited certificate password, etc.) and the devices which may be used for the user identification verification, and in this case, the Company shall not be responsible for any damages caused by any reason imputable to the user.
(2) The user shall notify the Company if and when the user recognizes that the user’s information which may be used for the user identity verification has been stolen or when a third party is using the relevant information.
(3) The user shall comply with the provisions of these Terms of Use and relevant laws and regulations, and shall not engage in any of the following acts.
a. Using someone else's name or registering false information for user identity verification
b. Arbitrary change of the information posted on the website operated by the Company
c. Transmission or posting of information not permitted by the Company
d. Infringement of intellectual property rights such as copyrights of the Company and other third parties
e. Acts which damage the reputation of the Company or other third parties or interferes with business
f. Disclosure or posting of any obscene or violent messages, images, voices, or other information against public morals

Article 13. Compensation for Damages

The Company and the user shall compensate the other party for any damages intentionally or negligently caused in connection with the use of service. However, the Company shall not be responsible for any damages caused in connection with the use of services provided for free of charge as long as they do not violate the contents of the Privacy Policy.

Article 14. Disclaimer

(1) The Company shall be exempted from any liability whatsoever for the provision of services if and where it is unable to provide the service due to natural disasters or other major calamities.
(2) The Company shall not be responsible for any disruption of the use of service due to reasons imputable to the user.
(3) The Company shall not be responsible for the loss of any revenue expected by the user using the service or for any damages caused by the data secured via the service.
(4) The Company shall not be responsible for the reliability and accuracy of information, data, and facts posted by users on the service.
(5) The Company shall not be held responsible for any damages caused by the intention or negligence of the user among the damages incurred against the user in connection with the use of service.
(6) The Company shall be exempted from any and all liabilities for damages caused by unavoidable reasons including the repair, replacement, regular inspection, and construction of service facilities.
(7) The Company shall not be held responsible for any damages caused by the user's computer related error or if the user has incorrectly entered the user’s personal information while using the user identification verification service.

Chapter 4. General Matters

Article 15. Post Management by the User

The Company may delete any contents posted or registered by the user without giving prior notice if it is determined that it is applicable to any of the following.

(1) Posting of advertisements or promotional materials which are not approved by the Company, such as posting of spam
(2) Slander or libel which damages the reputation of the Company, other users or third parties
(3) Posting of contents which violate public order and morals
(4) Posting of contents recognized as conforming to a criminal act
(5) Posting of contents which infringe upon the rights of other such as the copyrights of others
(6) Posting of contents which violate other relevant laws and regulations or these Terms of Use

Article 16. Notification and Provision of Information for the User

(1) Where the Company notifies the user of the user identification verification service, the user may verify their identity by sending an email to the email address provided in advance to the Company or by sending a text message from the individual’s mobile phone number.
(2) In the case of notification sent out to a large number of unspecified users, the Company may post this information on a bulletin board for a week or longer.
(3) The Company may provide the user of the user identification verification service with various types of information deemed necessary to use the service via email, SMS, phone, etc.

Article 17. Partial Invalidation

In the event that some of the provisions of these Terms of Use have become invalid due to relevant laws and regulations, these Terms of Use shall remain effective unless their purpose cannot be achieved through the remaining provisions alone or they become unfairly disadvantageous to the user.

Article 18. Jurisdiction of Trial and Governing Law

(1) In the case of members using the Company's paid services, the Terms of Use and the policies determined separately by the Company in connection with the relevant service shall be followed.
(2) The court of competent jurisdiction for any disputes arising between the Company and the user in connection with the use of service shall be the court of the Republic of Korea with jurisdiction under the Civil Procedure Act, while the laws of the Republic of Korea shall be applied as the governing laws.

Supplementary Provisions
1. These Terms of Use shall enter into force on January 1, 2022.
