Privacy Policy

LG Electronics Co., Ltd. (hereinafter the “Company”) has the following Privacy Policy in place to protect the user’s personal information and rights and interests in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act and also handle user complaints related to personal information in an amicable manner.

If the Company revises this Privacy Policy, such fact will be publicly announced through a notice on its website.

This Policy will enter into force on January 1, 2022.

In handling the personal information of the user, the Company shall comply with the provisions of the relevant laws and regulations including the Personal Information Protection Act (hereinafter the “Personal Information Protection Act”) and the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, Etc. (hereinafter, “Information and Communications Network Act”).


Article 1. Items of Personal Information to Be Collected and the Method of Collection

1) When users use “Open Innovation” menu > “LG Startup Discovery and Development Program Support” menu

Article 2. Purpose of Handling Personal Information

The Company shall handle personal information for the following purposes

1) When users use “Open Innovation” menu > “LG Startup Discovery and Development Program Support” menu
LG’s overall business operation related to the startup open innovation, provision of information and participation opportunities for LG’s open innovation programs, investment, acceleration, business cooperation review, and contact for business cooperation and development


Article 3. Processing and Retention Period for Personal information

The Company shall in principle destroy the user’s personal information without any delay when the purposes of collection and processing are achieved, however, the personal information shall be handled and retained within the period of retention and use of personal information agreed upon when collecting the personal information from the user as follows. Furthermore, if there is an obligation to preserve information by the law, it shall be preserved for a certain period of time as specified by the relevant laws and regulations.

Article 4. Matters Concerning the Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties

Except for the following cases, the Company shall not provide the personal information to third parties, except in cases where there is user consent or there are special provisions under the relevant laws and regulations.

Article 5. Consignment of the Handling of Personal Information

The Company may consign the handling of the user’s personal information to a third party in order to facilitate business performance such as the provision for better service and user convenience.

The details of the personal information consignee and the work consigned shall be as follows, and if needed, the consignee companies may be added or changed, in which event the change shall be reflected and notified in this Privacy Policy.

Article 6. Rights and Obligations of the User and How They May Be Exercised

1) The user may exercise the rights to view, correct, delete, and suspend the handling of personal information at any time concerning the Company.
2) The exercise of the rights pursuant to Paragraph 1 may be made concerning the Company in writing, email, fax, etc., and the Company shall take action without any delay thereto.
3) If the user requests the correction or deletion of any error of personal information, the Company shall not use or provide the personal information until the relevant correction or deletion is completed.
4) The exercise of rights pursuant to Paragraph 1 may be executed via an agent such as the legal representative of the user or a person who has been delegated. In which event, one shall submit a power of attorney in line with Annexed Form 11 of the Enforcement Decree of the Personal Information Protection Act.
5) The request for correction and deletion of personal information shall not be made if the personal information is specified as a target of collection under relevant laws and regulations.

Article 7. Destruction of Personal Information

1) If and when the purpose of the handling of personal information is achieved, the Company shall in principle delete the personal information without any delay.
2) If the period of retention of the personal information agreed upon by the user has elapsed or the purpose of handling such information has been achieved, but the personal information still needs to be preserved in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, the location of storage shall be different for preservation.
3) The procedure, deadline and method of destruction shall be as follows.
a. Destruction procedure
The information entered by the user shall be stored for a certain period of time or immediately destroyed according to the internal policy and other related laws and regulations (refer to the period of retention and use) after the purpose for retaining personal information has been achieved.
b. Method of destruction
Personal information stored in an electronic file format shall completely be deleted from the hard disk by using a technical method which cannot reproduce the records.
Personal information printed on paper shall be shredded with a shredder or destroyed via incineration.

Article 8. Measures to Secure the Safety of Personal Information

The Company shall take the following technical, managerial and physical measures to ensure that personal information is not lost, stolen, leaked, altered or damaged while handling such information.

1) For the establishment and implementation of the internal management plan and for the safe handling of personal information, an internal management plan is devised and implemented in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

2) A minimal number of personal information handlers are being designated, and regular training is being provided for compliance with relevant regulations and laws. Key personal information, such as passwords, shall be encrypted, stored and managed, to ensure that only the user shall know them, and important data shall be encrypted during the transmission or a separate security function shall be used, such as a file lock function.

3) Prevention of malicious programs, etc.
In order to prevent any leakage and damage of personal information caused by hacking or computer viruses, a security program shall be installed, periodically updated and checked, and the system shall be installed in restricted areas for the control, monitoring and blocking of technical and physical access from outside.

4) Restriction of access to the personal information handling system
Necessary measures shall be taken to control access to personal information by granting, changing, and canceling access rights to the database system which processes the personal information, and an intrusion prevention system shall be used to control unauthorized access from outside.

5) Storage of access records and the prevention of forgery and falsification
The records of access to the personal information handling system are stored and managed, and security functions are used to prevent forgery, theft, or the loss of access records.

6) Access control for unauthorized persons

Article 9. Installation and Operation of Devices That Automatically Collect Personal Information, Such as Internet Access Information Files, and Their Rejection

A separate physical storage location for personal information shall be in place, and the access control procedures shall be established and put in operation.

The Company shall store user information and use “cookies” to access them periodically. Cookies are made up of small amounts of information transmitted from the Company’s website to the user’s web browser.

1) Purpose of cookies
To provide the most optimized service, the contents of cookies are read to track the user’s visits to the Company’s website and their secures access to it.

2) Installation, operation and rejection of cookies
a. Cookies identify the user’s computer, yet do not personally identify the user.
Furthermore, the user has the right to choose to accept or reject cookies. However, if one refuses to store cookies, there may be difficulties experienced in using the relevant services.
b. How to specify whether to allow the cookies to be installed (in the case of Internet Explorer)

c. The Company is using Google Analytics, which is a web analytics tool provided by Google and is intended to provide better services for the user.
Google Analytics collects information on user trends via cookies. Only anonymized information which cannot identify the user individually is collected. Nevertheless, the user may refuse the use of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics' block browser add-on (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout) feature or by refusing to enable cookies in the web browser.

In order to protect the personal information of users and handle complaints related to their handling, the Company has designated both a supervisor and department in charge as follows.

Article 11. Request to Review Personal Information

The user may request to review personal information to the following departments. The Company shall make every effort to ensure that the user’s request for the review of personal information is promptly met.

Article 13. Revision of the Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy shall enter into force on January 1, 2022.
